Ride & Drive

How old do I need to be to drive?

You must be over the age of 25 on 9 May 2018.

How will drivers with valid driving licences be distinguished?

A licence checking desk will be set up in Hall 2. All visitors who plan to drive must have their licence checked at this desk.

An ‘approved driver’ system will be in place on the day. Visitors’ registration cards will be stamped with a clear mark to show that their licence has been checked.

If there is a problem with the licence, the badge will not be stamped. It will then be at the discretion of individual manufacturers if the visitor is allowed to drive.

Can I bring a photocopy of my drivers licence?

No, we need to see the original driving licence on the day.

I only have a provisional licence can I drive?

No, you need to have a full driver’s licence to drive.

Do test drives need to be accompanied? If so, does the accompanied driver need a specific type of licence?

Test cars must have a manufacturers representative present at all times. All visitors who wish to test drive vehicles will be required to show a valid current driving license.

If driving on the Grand Prix circuit, an instructor must be present and helmets worn at all times.

How will test vehicles get to the tracks?

The Stowe Circuit
Customers will drive from the hospitality unit to the Stowe circuit to begin their test-drive. It will take 15 minutes to get to the car, drive to the circuit, do the laps and then drive back. So in a 15-minute slot, a maximum of 5 minutes will be spent on the circuit.

The International and National Circuits (Grand Prix)
Customers will drive from the hospitality unit to the Grand Prix circuit.
