Mercedes-Benz has revealed prices for the new A-Class, which is on sale now.
Available with a choice of three engines, the new model is priced from £25,800 for the 115bhp 1.5-litre diesel while the 161bhp 1.4-litre petrol starts from £27,500 and the 221bhp 2.0-litre petrol is available from £30,240. All engines come with a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
The diesel – badged as the A 180d – brings up to 68.9mpg on the combined cycle, with a top speed of 125mph and a 0-62mph time of 10.5 seconds. The smaller A 200 petrol can deliver up to 51.4mpg while the top-of-the-range A 250 can achieve 45.6 mpg on the combined cycle and brings a 0-62mph of 6.2 seconds with a top speed of 155mph.
Three trims are on offer: SE, Sport and AMG Line. Entry-level equipment includes twin seven-inch displays including a central touchscreen with MBUX multimedia system with voice activation, comfort suspension, 16-inch alloy wheels, DAB radio, part leather upholstery, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Speed Limit Assist, Keyless-Go starting function and air con.
The Sport trim line adds LED high performance headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels fabric upholstery and automatic climate control.
The AMG Line brings 18-inch AMG alloy wheels, AMG bodystyling, microfibre upholstery and three-spoke sports steering wheel.
Equipment options include the Executive equipment package, which costs £1,395 and upgrades the standard seven-inch central touchscreen media display to a 10.25-inch screen, as well as adding Active Parking Assist with Parktronic, heated front seats and Mirror package.
The £2,395 Premium equipment line builds on this with a 10.25-inch cockpit display, 64-colour ambient lighting, illuminated door sills, Keyless-Go, upgraded sound system and rear armrest.
The Premium Plus equipment line includes the Premium and Executive lines, and adds memory function for the driver and front passenger seats, multibeam LED head lights with Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus and a panoramic sunroof.
Drivers opting for these packages can also specific the Advanced Navigation package (£495), which introduces augmented reality into the onboard satellite navigation and brings Traffic Sign Assist.
First deliveries of the new A-Class start late May 2018.
